First day of gesture class!

Today was the first day of Ryan Woodward's gesture drawing class, which I have been wanting to get into for 2 years lol–  I'm so psyched!  We had a sub today, the incredibly talented Cynthia Hogan, who was incidentally my very first figure drawing teacher :) It was a blast.  Here are a few of my favorite sketches from the session:

Lol my buddy Mitch (plug!) started drawing some of the poses as Marvel Avengers in honor of the movie coming out next week.  He did hulk, so I decided to do iron man lol:

PS- do you recognize yourself in the top gesture? Lol don't worry, I won't show your insurance company ;)

    1. Thanks! Pens, hmmm . . . honestly, mostly just cheap stuff. The Orange is a hi-liter, with line on top in a combination of ball-point and sharpie pen. The one black and white one is plain sharpie pen, which I need to get back into lol

  4. Man, I wish I could draw. ;)

These are really fun, Josh! You've got quite a knack for catching the energy of a gesture. I can't wait to see where you are at the end of Ryan's class. :)
