Today was the first day of Ryan Woodward's gesture drawing class, which I have been wanting to get into for 2 years lol– I'm so psyched! We had a sub today, the incredibly talented Cynthia Hogan, who was incidentally my very first figure drawing teacher :) It was a blast. Here are a few of my favorite sketches from the session:
Lol my buddy Mitch (plug!) started drawing some of the poses as Marvel Avengers in honor of the movie coming out next week. He did hulk, so I decided to do iron man lol:
(cleanup and shades in phootoshop)
Did Mitch do the Hulk, too? I didn't know that. . .
ReplyDeleteLol yup! He was the one who started the whole avengers idea lol
DeletePS- do you recognize yourself in the top gesture? Lol don't worry, I won't show your insurance company ;)
Josh, what pens do you use?!
ReplyDeleteBtw, these are friggin' fantastic...
Thanks! Pens, hmmm . . . honestly, mostly just cheap stuff. The Orange is a hi-liter, with line on top in a combination of ball-point and sharpie pen. The one black and white one is plain sharpie pen, which I need to get back into lol
DeleteSOOO jealous right now. I love Ryan SO much, and looks like you are making some good stuff in that class!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You've got some pretty awesome stuff yourself :)
DeleteMan, I wish I could draw. ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are really fun, Josh! You've got quite a knack for catching the energy of a gesture. I can't wait to see where you are at the end of Ryan's class. :)
Thanks! I'm having so much fun learning from him, he's the bom lol :)
DeleteHi, your works are wonderful! I follow your blog, see you soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Claudio! I'm honored
